I Want a New Place to Live
I want a new place to live.
There is no table to place my hearty meals,
Not enough cabinets to store my bountiful gifts,
There is no place for the piano,
The baseboard heater clicks too loudly.
The closets are too small for my extensive wardrobe.
The neighbors’ feet are heavy on the solid roof above my head.
Parking the car I own is difficult sometimes.
We share one sink each morning.
Yes, I think I may go crazy,
Lose my head, quit humankind,
If from warm, safe, clean asylum,
I can’t simply move my mind.
(Note to self: hearty meals, generous gifts, piano, heat, clothes, roof, car, us.)
